On this episode of the Cult Film Club Jaime, Pax and Shawn are kicking off year five of the show by covering one of our favorite Henson fantasy flicks, Labyrinth from 1986. Though the film was a financial flop when it was released, it has become a cult hit over the past 30 years, to a point where it might just be one of Jim Henson's most beloved films. Starring Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie, the film is a modern day fairy tale all about that awkward balance between dreams and reality and when to let go of your childhood. Featuring astounding creature designs inspired by artist Brian Froud, music by Bowie and sporting a script co-written by Monty Python's Terry Jones the film is unlike anything else that was released before or after. |
